This picture was taken just before my improv team and I went onstage at Second City in Hollywood to do a 15 minute set for one of their college nights.  We spent a lot of time goofing off backstage in between going over our games.

Normally, I hate fluorescent lights- they're unflattering and tend to flicker and give me a headache in the middle of a lecture- but I didn't mind them here.  It was probably my excitement over doing a set in LA that made me hate them less...  But that made me think about how much context affects the way we perceive light.  The fluorescent lights at Second City were fine, great even, but the ones in dressing rooms and lecture halls are the worst.

  1. Nice conversation about context! Lighting affects how we feel so much but we our emotions also affect equally how we perceive it
