Waking up one morning, I noticed the strange juxtaposition of a hot, warm, and intense light behind my old blinds and the black bars of my headboard. The light, as it attempted to cut through the blinds, was a grimy amber color that was reminiscent of a filthy bathroom. I couldn't look away. The actual light outside was warm, but also bright and conventional - a traditional sunny SoCal day. I found it to be a gorgeous sight. However, my ratty old blinds had become a filter for this gorgeous bright light, transforming it into a yellow, pale, and sickly sight. I was intrigued by the effect of this make-shift filter on the beautiful and pure Spring light. Also, I enjoyed the definite juxtaposition of the "set piece" and "lighting fixture" (if you will). A strong black headboard against the thin yellowish blinds created a weird sensation of being trapped, as if I were in a jail cell. I couldn't stop thinking about the interplay of sets and lights - the way a set piece creates shadow, the colors/qualities/shapes of sets vs. light, etc. These design elements all work together to create an overall emotional sensation for the audience - one can never forget how important these elements all are to each other.

Very nice observances. Nice image and detail about it
